We all know all about the stereotype of fat people. We all supposedly lay around, stuff our faces, make everyone else do all the work, are too jolly all the time to have any *real* feelings, and generally are not thought of as normal people.

I have a serious problem with this idea about us. First of all, I know another BBW who walked 40 minutes nearly every day of the week (certainly no less than 4 days) spiced it up with aerobics and weight training, upped the time when she hit a plateau, and eat *very* well. I'm talking balanced, low-fat, healthy diet. Can you possibly tell me why she did this for 2 years, and could not get below 220? Thyroid was tested, no problem there. Doctor couldn't find anything wrong anywhere else. I really think that many fat people are fat for other reasons. Perhaps heredity? My whole family has weight issues, except for those who married into it, and their children of course. Most of my family has also dieted a lot. It really hasn't worked. I'm sorry, but it is *not* an issue of willpower. It is an issue of metabolism and other factors, most of which cannot be changed.

As for fat people being lazy? Come on! You watch to much TV. Actually, I think TV is a very big factor in how fat people are viewed. First off, you have all these commercials that are telling you if you loose weight, your life will be perfect. You will have more friends. You will get a raise. Can I just say this is a load of crap????? I know plenty of thin people who have none of the above. All that happens when ya loose weight is you can buy smaller clothing. Sure more members of the opposite sex will be attracted to you, but, really isn't that silly, because they obviously only want you for your body if they only are willing to be with you when you are thin. That is not a relationship I'd want to be a part of. Another issue of TV is that first off, there aren't enough fat people on TV. Really, we are training yet another generation that thin is best. That to be famous, intelligent, talented, or even human you *have* to be thin. That is not true, excepting maybe the famous part - lately it seems you don't have to be talented, you just have to have the right measurements. Pfeh.
